Depression and Suicide

Depression is a state that affects a person’s mind, emotions and body. Individuals suffering from depression usually experience sadness that is much more intense and lasts much longer. They may feel increasingly irritable; experience a sense of emptiness and hopelessness.

They often feel completely overwhelmed and have no interest in activities they once enjoyed. Depression is also commonly accompanied by a variety of physical symptoms including lack of energy, problems sleeping, pronounced weight changes and even serious illness. Negative thinking can start to dissipate with counselling, resulting in the condition becoming more manageable with time and patience.

Suicide is a desperate attempt to escape suffering that has become unbearable. Depression counselling focuses on key issues with which depressed individuals are dealing.

Many things can trigger depression, including work stress, family problems, relationship issues, and financial issues. Our trained mental health professionals will help make an assessment of the situation and recommend if medication is needed and work with the individual to gain a greater degree of self-awareness and understanding to improve self-esteem as well as mental and physical health.
